Hello! I'm Pastor Mike, and since January 2009, I've been blessed to serve as both the Lead Pastor and an Elder at Community Church. My journey here began when my family and I felt a strong calling to return to our roots in Akron. It was an unexpected path that quickly led us here, and it felt like coming home—not just to the place, but to a community that shares the deep values and beliefs that resonate with my own.

Each week, I devote a significant portion of my time to studying, teaching, and preaching God's Word. This involves preparing for Sunday services and leading several Bible studies throughout the week. Leadership doesn’t stop there—I also guide our wonderful team of elders and staff and engage in pastoral ministry and counseling.

As one of the elders, my role involves more hands-on leadership within the elder board. I focus intensely on praying through and thinking about our church’s priorities and direction. It’s a role that allows me to be deeply involved in the spiritual and operational guidance of our church.

My heart’s passion is to know God's Word and preach it uncompromisingly, inspiring trust in Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism and discipleship. At Community Church, we emphasize intentional discipleship to help each person grow deeply in their walk with Jesus.

Outside of church, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my family. I’m happily married to Sandy since 1991, and we are blessed with four children—two daughters and two sons—all of whom are local, which is a great blessing to us. We've also welcomed a grandchild into our lives, and we pray for more to come. Our newest shared hobby is pickleball, a fun and engaging way to stay active and spend quality time together.

I strongly advocate for church members to engage in small groups within the community. It’s in these close relationships that we find substantial support and growth. For those looking to deepen their understanding of the world from a Christian perspective, I recommend podcasts like “The World and Everything in It,” “Breakpoint,” and “The Briefing” with Albert Mueller.

I’m excited to continue serving and growing with our Community Church family, and I look forward to what God has in store for us all.
