Hello there! My name’s Darlene. I’m the Financial Secretary here at Community Church, which basically means I handle all the fun stuff—offerings, payroll, bill payments, you name it. My journey with Community Church began about two years ago when I was seeking a new spiritual home. My brother, Don George, had joined and was quite happy here, so I thought I’d give it a try. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the people, the welcoming atmosphere, and the way the church aligns with my beliefs.

Outside of managing finances, I’m exploring God’s calling for me, which I believe involves working with children and indulging in my love for music. Although I can’t read music, being part of the choir is a joy I cherish deeply. I’m currently helping out with the nursery and hope to eventually teach Sunday school.

When I’m not at church, my favorite hobby is spending quality time with my granddaughters, who are all teenagers but still a lot of fun! We cook together, go shopping, watch soccer and karate matches, and enjoy musicals and plays. My family is my heart's joy—I have a daughter, a son, a stepdaughter, and the most wonderful in-laws one could ask for. I also care for my 92-year-old father, making sure he has everything he needs.

I strongly believe in the power of faith; God has been my rock through thick and thin. I always encourage my kids and everyone around me to let God in because that's the key to true happiness. Musically, my heart has always had a special place for Amy Grant. Her songs resonate deeply with me, much like the old gospel hymns that I treasure. These hymns and Amy’s music touch my soul deeply, more so than contemporary music.

And just a little more about me—I’m a cat lover! My cats, Peanut and Hazel, are my furry companions, with Peanut following me around like a little puppy.

It's a blessing to be a part of Community Church, and I look forward to many more joy-filled years here. If you ever want to talk about finance, music, or just need a listening ear, I’m here!
