Water, Water, and more Water

Kids Splash Night

O

ne of our Summer events for the kids was Splash Night.   I was going to keep it simple like fun with water balloons, water guns and a big slip and slide.  Out of the blue, I was contacted by one of the parents saying they have a couple water bouncy houses.  When asked if I minded that they bring them and set them up, I quickly said that it sounded like so much fun for the children.

It has been an odd summer because every time we planned a children’s event, it rained and this night was no different.  As the parents were arriving and we were setting up, a nasty storm blew in with thunder and tons of wind.  While we were wondering what to do, the storm left and God sent us a beautiful Rainbow.  It was awesome.  A great reminder of His promise to us.

I love inviting families to come with their children.  Part of the time the parents were sitting under the pavilion talking and sharing.  The kids had water canons that they shot at me while I sat in the center of one of the pools.  Parents found the water balloons and would throw them at their own children. We filled one of the bouncy houses with soap and the kids loved playing in the bubbles.  It was a fun night for all.

God does a great work when these parents are able to connect.  Well, it is not only parents.  We have a few grandparents who bring their grandchildren to church and I saw a few of them sitting sharing their stories of how they are helping to raise, partially raise these children.  These connections strengthen our church in so many ways.
