hat is Pineapple Sunday, you ask? It is our student’s Mission Sunday where they get to share all the things God has done and is doing in their lives. And Pineapples? I have said many times that the fruit from a pineapple is sweet and delicious and it is much too big to eat by yourself so you have to share it with others…Just like God’s love.
This year Pineapple Sunday had our youth involved in greeting people at the door, leading worship, collecting offerings, giving cardboard testimonies, sharing their experiences from Costa Rica, 2 baptisms. I think that is all. We had 17 plus students to get on and off the stage and with middle school and high schoolers, there could have been some bumps in the road but God worked everything out and the two services went smoothly.
Sofia’s baptism and testimony was very touching. In her testimony she shared the Theology of baptism. We are raised to a New Life and the beautiful imagery that baptism holds.
We have been focusing on the church’s Mission Statement which is , “To know Christ, His life changing power and Make Him known”. I feel that the students showed this statement in what they have been doing this summer and especially in what they shared on Pineapple Sunday. The students are transitioning between learning about God and His Power, experiencing it, and sharing that with their friends and family.
