Chords and Coffee: Worship and Hangout Night

Experience the gentle strumming of acoustic guitars as we engage in a heartfelt worship session. Sing along to familiar and uplifting tunes, or simply soak in the melodies and enjoy a cup of warm, delicious coffee. This event is not just about music; it's a chance to meet new friends, share stories, and unwind in a cozy, informal setting. Everyone is welcome – whether you're a regular church member or visiting for the first time. There's no need to be a seasoned singer or musician to join in. The Foundations of Our Faith, and Our Problems

This series explores the profound beginnings of our species, the foundational truths of our faith, and the origins of the major challenges facing our culture today. Each sermon will navigate the intriguing dialogue between creation and evolution, encouraging a thoughtful exploration of how these early Biblical texts inform our understanding of the world and our place within it. Whether you're a believer, a seeker, or simply curious, this series offers a rich perspective on how the ancient narratives of Genesis continue to resonate and shape our lives in the modern world.

Hi!🙋I'm Pastor Mike

Hello! I'm Pastor Mike, and since January 2009, I've been blessed to serve as both the Lead Pastor and an Elder at Community Church. My journey here began when my family and I felt a strong calling to return to our roots in Akron. It was an unexpected path that quickly led us here, and it felt like coming home—not just to the place, but to a community that shares the deep values and beliefs that resonate with my own.

Each week, I devote a significant portion of my time to studying, teaching, and preaching God's Word. This involves preparing for Sunday services and leading several Bible studies throughout the week. Leadership doesn’t stop there—I also guide our wonderful team of elders and staff and engage in pastoral ministry and counseling.

As one of the elders, my role involves more hands-on leadership within the elder board. I focus intensely on praying through and thinking about our church’s priorities and direction. It’s a role that allows me to be deeply involved in the spiritual and operational guidance of our church.

My heart’s passion is to know God's Word and preach it uncompromisingly, inspiring trust in Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism and discipleship. At Community Church, we emphasize intentional discipleship to help each person grow deeply in their walk with Jesus.

Outside of church, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my family. I’m happily married to Sandy since 1991, and we are blessed with four children—two daughters and two sons—all of whom are local, which is a great blessing to us. We've also welcomed a grandchild into our lives, and we pray for more to come. Our newest shared hobby is pickleball, a fun and engaging way to stay active and spend quality time together.

I strongly advocate for church members to engage in small groups within the community. It’s in these close relationships that we find substantial support and growth. For those looking to deepen their understanding of the world from a Christian perspective, I recommend podcasts like “The World and Everything in It,” “Breakpoint,” and “The Briefing” with Albert Mueller.

I’m excited to continue serving and growing with our Community Church family, and I look forward to what God has in store for us all.

Building Momentum - Renovation Project

Our kids ministry is growing and our preschool has been running for 40 years as a wonderful ministry to families in our community. But our facility is holding us back. We want to invest in these areas where God is blessing us by renovating the children's area of our building. Learn more about the renovations we're planning.

Let's get together, have some fun, eat some food, and so much more! We have events that are geared towards people of various stages of life, so there's probably something you'd enjoy. Events are a great way to start finding a community.

We believe that prayer is powerful, so we want to pray over your the issues in your life where you need God's help.

Submit a prayer request so we can be praying along side you. Or plan a time to use our prayer room, which is filled with tools to help guide you in connected with God through prayer.

Community Christian Preschool & Daycare

Our preschool works to meet each child’s individual cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and creative needs by providing curriculum that promotes learning through dramatic play, music and movement, science, literature, Bible teaching, language skills, creative arts, and gross and fine motor development.

And to make Him known...

We're passionate about making Christ known to everyone in our home town and around the world. 10% of our general donations goes to supporting local, national, and international missionaries.

What We Believe

We want to know who Jesus is, His character, what He likes and what He doesn't. We want to experience His desire for our lives. He promises to restore us and to redeem us. Then we want to share all of that with others. Learn more about our statement of faith and core values.
